Specialized Provider of Document Management Systems
SI Software Innovation GmbH (SI GmbH) was founded in 1996 by employees of the IT service providers ICR and EDS. The manufacturer of systems for electronic document management headquartered in Neustadt, situated along Rhineland-Palatinate’s wine street, currently employs a staff of 35 in the areas of development, support and marketing. The Large Documents Management System (LDMS) forms a core component of the portfolio.
From Output Management to a Comprehensive DMS
In the 1990s, the LDMS, then still called List Distribution Management System, was turned into a full-fledged, comprehensive document management system. Key development stages included the launch of a client-server component (1997) and the option for processing documents online (1998). In 1999, components for output, list distribution and document management were added to the LDMS suite.
Platform-Independent, Highly Scalable System
As a new feature introduced in 2001, the Java-based LDMS DOC 2.0 allowed the DMS to be used across platforms. In 2003, LDMS was restructured, adding the LDMS/z host system for the central company archive and the LDMS/p client for decentralized document processing. The modular design of the system facilitates flexible adaptation to various business processes, supporting automatic archiving of terabytes of data from application programs and thousands of users concurrently accessing the archive – and even the same document – from different locations.
New Interfaces for SAP Applications
In 2004, newly developed interfaces made it possible for LDMS to be integrated with applications, improving the connectivity between decentralized workstations and the central archive. The Archive Manager was introduced to facilitate archiving of SAP output, e-mails and Office documents. In 2005, the ArchiveLink interface between the archive and SAP systems was certified by SAP. Deutsche Post AG certified LDSM DVF-EDI, the interface of the LDMS/z module Porto Optimizer for creating electronic dispatch plans in XML.
SI Becomes a Member of the Beta Systems Group
SI GmbH was turned into a wholly owned subsidiary of Beta Systems Software AG in February 2008. LDMS further strengthens the highly profitable mainframe business of the Berlin parent company, while our customers can now also take advantage of Beta solutions covering the areas of Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Identity Management (IDM) and Data Center Infrastructure (DCI).
Comprehensive DMS Services and Archiving Solutions
SI GmbH is a strong partner for DMS services, offering extensive solutions in the areas of output, list distribution and document management, archive migration, DMS outsourcing/application service providing as well as scan and incoming mail processing services. The customer base counts over 1,000 companies across the globe, with a total of over 75,000 employees relying on LDMS to access their central archive.
